Libby McKinnon & Fit and Fuel
Hi, I’m Libby – founder of Fit and Fuel, championship boxer, qualified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and someone who knows exactly what it feels like to start from scratch.
A few years ago, I was overweight, anxious, and unhappy with how I looked, how I felt, and how little confidence I had in myself. I lost 28kg and completely turned my life around – not just physically, but mentally too. Fitness didn’t just change my body; it changed how I live my life.
But it wasn’t easy. I tried to do it all alone, and I know now that having the right support makes all the difference. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others. I don’t just coach – I walk the walk. I’ve felt the fear of stepping into a gym. I’ve doubted myself. And now I’ve gone from someone who used to hide in the back of fitness classes to someone who walks into a boxing ring and wins in front of a crowd. If I can do it, so can you – and I’d love to help you get there.
My approach to training is supportive, empowering, and completely tailored to you. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, build strength, improve your mindset, or just feel better in your own skin, I’ve got your back every step of the way – whether that’s in-person in Hebburn or through online coaching wherever you are.
 
															My Qualifications & What They Mean
To provide the safest and most effective support possible, I’ve taken the time to study and build real, accredited knowledge in fitness, health, and performance:
Level 2 Gym Instructor
This is the foundation of personal training. It covers safe exercise techniques, anatomy, and programme planning – ensuring that every workout I deliver is both effective and safe for your fitness level.
Level 3 Personal Trainer
This advanced qualification focuses on goal-based programming, client assessment, and one-to-one training. It means I can create customised fitness plans based on your specific goals, lifestyle, and needs.
Level 4 Nutrition for Weight Management & Athletic Performance
This qualification allows me to offer science-backed nutrition advice. Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, or fuelling for performance, I can help you understand what to eat and why – without fad diets or quick fixes.
BSc Degree in Sports Development
My university degree gives me a deeper understanding of coaching, motivation, behavioural change, and long-term physical development. It’s about more than reps and sets – it’s about changing lives through movement, confidence, and community.
Level 1 Boxing Coach – England Boxing
As a certified boxing coach, I use boxing as a tool not just for fitness, but for mental strength, discipline, and fun. Whether you’re new to boxing or already love the sport, I’ll help you build skills, fitness, and confidence.
Safeguarding & Enhanced DBS
I’m trained in safeguarding and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, which allows me to work safely and responsibly with all clients, including young people and vulnerable adults.
